| 内容記述 | この論文は日本語を第二言語としている学習者が、日本の小学校で教育実習をしている時、どのような機会、状況で日本語を利用していたのか明らかにしている。 ノートン・ピース(1995)は、第二言語学習理論に基づき、学習者と学習内容に関係している数々の主張の正当性について明確にしていくのは、言語学習者の使命であると述べている。 収集したデータから、学生は外国から来た教育実習生としての立場で、第二言語としての日本語を話す機会がどのように与えられ、どのように自分自身で作り出していたのか。また、小学校という環境の 中で、どのような事に注意して聞き手に合わせた日本語を話したのかが述べられている。 学生達の意見を細かく分析し、社会的な側面から外国人の教育実習生として、日本人の中に溶け込んでいくために何が大切かということが描かれている。この研究がきっかけとなり、第二言語として日本語を学習している人が日本で受ける社会的な影響力の大きさについて、さらに発展した議論が行なわれたり、海外研修によってもたらされる言語習得結果 の大きさに対して、より深く理解される事を望んでいる。 |

| 内容記述 | This paper examines how opportunities for Japanese second language students to engage in Japanese language events are socially constructed. The language events in this case occur within a primary school setting in Japan in which the students are engaged in a teaching practicum. Aspects of the social organization that assist or inhibit the participation of second language learners in a Japanese language community are also investigated. Particular attention is given to Norton Peirce's (1995) assertion that second language acquisition (SLA) researchers have a responsibility to challenge the artificial distinction, evident in the work of many SLA theorists, between the language learner and the language learning context. Data reveals that students are undergoing a process of negotiating legitimacy and the right to speak in a Japanese second language context that is supported by their role as in-service teacher. Candid comments reveal processes that are significant in assisting, or are detrimental to, participation in the social arena. It is hoped that this paper will act as an impetus for further discussion of social dynamics and their effects on second language learners and, in addition, contribute to our understanding of the dynamics of study abroad programs. |
